Research group meeting on International Development and Peace through Sport
Aiming to advance academic research related to international development and peace through sport, a research group meeting on international development and peace through sport was organized at the 65th Conference of Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences on August 26th.
Following the explanation of objectives in the research group meeting by Dr. Masashi Kawanishi, the vice president of the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya, three speakers had presentations below.
- “Contributing to International Development and Peace through Sport” Taku Yamaguchi (University of Tsukuba)
- “Olympic Movement and International Development” Kyoko Raita (Chukyo University)
- “Sport Management and International Development” Munehiko Harada (Waseda University)
About 50 people participated in the meeting and comments regarding to the Sport for Tomorrow program towards Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020 were raised. We will organize more meetings and study group activities to promote the topic in academic field.
